Network Connection Problems

"Uh oh! Gail, they're here." CAN'T GET CONNECTED?
So you're having problems getting in, huh? Well, let's
see what we can do to help you.
The first thing you have to have is a computer, the
second is a modem and the third is an internet
connection. Since you're here we'll just assume you've
got those.
Now on to the weirder stuff.
You need to have a 32-bit winsock connection to the
internet. If you can't see a bouncing fez on a white
background below this paragraph, it's a good sign that
you don't!
The best way to guarantee that you have this
connection is by using the "Windows 95 dialer".
On your Windows 95 computer, under "My
Computer" is a folder called "Dial Up
Networking." If this is the tool you use to connect
to the internet we're on the right track. In fact this is
such the right track that we'll need to get more info
from you. Contact us by email at samgail@castleinfinity.com
.
If you're not using the Windows 95 dialer...get with
the program. Most ISPs have steps to connect to their
services using the windows dialer. Check your
internet service providers web site for more info.
ARE YOU ON A NETWORK?
If you're accessing Castle Infinity from a business
location that has its own internal network connected to
the internet, there is a good chance that you are behind
a "firewall." A firewall is a tool to prevent
unauthorized people from getting into your system. Many
firewalls, however, prevent people from getting out and
accessing certain parts of the internet. Castle Infinity
is one of those things that cannot be accessed from
behind most firewalls. In other words, you're out of
luck. But don't give up yet. Install the Netcom software
from your Castle Infinity CD-ROM and use your modem to
connect to the internet.
